jealously guarded cell

jammed, jailed inside

a silly small self, eager to serve

secretly my little cause

and building my own

a fragile castle laboriously

brick by brick i raised

ousting others

from their rightful seats

using opportunities in my favour

stopping not to weigh cost

of seclusion, yearning more

until i collapsed in cell

a profitable pot

my father was not the potter who shaped

my stature though he may have cut the sod

the first dry dirt, while just enough water

was splashed carefully by my mother

then, one and many hands moulded

the wet mud, me lending both my rights

and resistance, an ambiguous assistance

until in me a market detected a profitable pot, a poet

mediocrity

she runs with blinkers, changing
not her course, her dream
with him riding on her with similar
pads and becoming one with speed

like a jockey on the horse racing
a harmonious linking
of two unlike souls, one
from the surface of the earth

and the other from a cloud floating
but impregnated not with rain
a sure unproductive providence
together also a mere vapour

jammed cento

retreating from the world, all i can do
where no man has seen the third hand
and i meet the Bishop on the road, and
i caught this morning morning’s minion

in an upper room at midnight
when i watch the living meet my last
Duchess painted on the wall!
oh, my love is like a red, red rose

for which the thirsty earth soaks up the rain
and flee from me that sometimes did me seek
with Chieftain Iffucan of Azcan in caftan!
Milton! you should be living at this hour!

making a poem

you keep pushing me from my depth
within my soul, my body, heart and mind
me to will a life of creating lines
breaking, at my own will, those lines

that others like me call it a poem
just like my mother, long ago
put her bigger hand on top of mine
gently, overriding my will, to script mine

that in school they called alphabet
thus seeing with her intuitive mind
she liaised with the master poet
submitting her will, in making a poet
