reflecting on my climb

i climb higher
and higher
until i reach the top
full of lush and green

at the end
nothing but the tip

the branch is dried
and i fear!

filled with anxiety
and more uncertainty:
will it break?
will i survive the fall?

my wits falter
though i know a step down
i must go
to avoid the breaking point

it’s my making
and it’s my greed
that moved me there

and i chose
not the cold
nor a longer winter

smaller
and smaller branch
a diminishing place
a deserted village
climbing against the trend
an irrevocable drift
of an urban world

i now progress
into a wilderness

walking in wilderness is good
but living there
that i dread
i calm my thoughts
and tell my soul
you could always come below

but if it breaks
before the move i make
an outcome
i hate to see
hence
i close my eyes

get better in getting better

antibiotics for three, five
or even seven days as prescribed
cold tablets and some extra vitamin c
for a longer period

like other vitamins to build
my body constituents
but early rising and exercising
for twenty one days

to build a purpose filled life
and cultivate healthy habits
once this is achieved
still i cannot go to rest

if my goal is to become
a Japanese Sumo Wrestler
instead i must practice
constant kaizen

to remain a wrestler
daily wrestling
the world of decay
deterioration and death

a revisit

i revisited my school that made me
a man of some worth
there i went to see my old two-room
little quarter above that abandoned store

that housed me for five thick years
of life that made my mind fat
and very productive too
and as i climbed the stair

that now ended just in air
and fear engulfed my heart
that i may fall; so i stepped out
of bed and eased my self

mediocre muse

risking as little as possible

his muse is his timid tortoise

moving very little from his house

providing shelter and security

sitting indoor with closed eyes

and plugged ears and tight lips

he fears the hearing of his own snoring

loosing, at the end, a joy of journeying

that would otherwise invite much applause

as received at the end of the mythical race

where Aesop awarded a gold to the tortoise

that thumped the over-confident hare!

human genius

gigantic mountains, hills

boulders and rocks

rock-solid and impenetrable!

yet, the human genius, the soft

diamond cuts through to create

a path to eternity

restless storm

senseless suffering
and that starvation
my body faithfully carts
to the end, my goal

death, decay and destruction
are marks imprinted
in my immortal soul

and my spirit soars high
and higher
as i beat hard the harder element
that curtails my journey
to greener fodder
where body finds food
and soul rest

and until that break
i’m restless like a storm
going straight and, at times, in circle
knocking down
and knocked by forms
loosing vigor
and gaining strength

untamed buffalo

alone i sit in the cave by the roadside
to the wilderness far beyond the urban
dwellings but i feel no seclusion, unruffled
like a wild buffalo, indifferent to breeze

gentle and the stormy winds making noise
but occasionally turning my head this way
and that side with ready un-readiness to build
my nest, or clean up any mess, mine

or those around through either commission
or omission caused by un-human indifference
to hear, to see, and to feel the pain
of bleeding life in paths much trailed

there neither the silence of the wilderness
nor the singing and dancing and hoarding
of the city invite me, inspire me to rise-up
to walk, to work, to fill, and, at the end, spill!

Stopping at Plamondon

When I'm sick in the city
I drive through the country
To see the farmland outside the city
But this time I did stop at Plamondon
To pay my homage to the Albertan men
Who canonized St. Isidore
The Holy Farmer from Spain
There I prayed for a celestial vision
And angels I did summon
To help me overcome the temptation
To enjoy the return
That I have never sown
