escape impossible

with hardly a few drizzle
from the sky
the rain flooded the road
pouring water from roof top

also into the house
as if a giant bath tap
open now from a height
unreachable

putting me and my household
out of our comfortable bed;
add to that i saw water
flowing from the road

through the door into our abode
and the waves in the ocean
nearby rising higher
as if giving birth to a monster

a monstrous tsunami
making an escape impossible!
and as i reflected i wondered
whether the end was imminent

fellow creatures

domination and desire
for greater dominance
over other fellow creatures
multiply their powerlessness

unseen they suffer
unheard they cry
in agony they linger
in loneliness they die

powerless!
and their fate
under human control
until the rise of a volcano!

vanity

while parking my car in backyard

i was fretful i scratch not

the painting

on the body

realizing not flooding underneath

the foundation of my house

that had already removed

the entire soil

and my house stood

with all its content on an empty vacuum

making the entire structure

ready to go down

crashing into a huge chasm

filled with stream

taking along with it

my car too

battles beautiful

i saw sparrows fighting their own sort

though hurting it was so beautiful

after a quick clash they all flew away

leaving battleground unhurt and intact

i saw dogs fighting their own genus

though hurting it was so beautiful

after a bigger brawl they ran away

leaving battleground for a safe use

i saw stupid humans fight their kind

and it was indeed so dreadfully ugly

after fight they still lingered to exploit

leaving bloody, bleeding battle ground

aging of the ocean

when i was nine

i have stood by the ocean

many times, to see her smiling

singing to me songs of hope

as i smiled with enormous amusement

observing her shore, fish that played

and coloured crabs that walked

sideways, all so close

but as i grew older

i have watched the sea aging

and now lying, an invalid

stinking with layers of rotten oil

as if she had never changed

her underclothes

and bathed not

for too many aeons

Christmas 2000

That wailing and weeping
Now, not in ancient Rama,
But, right in our midst
Not Rachel, for her children
But, helpless fellow creatures
Refusing, all consolation
Cause, they are no more
That’s Christmas of Christians
Deaf, dumb, and blind

Forests thousands of acres
The gardens of Eden damaged and destroyed
For holiday decorations
And cosmetic Christmas worship
For printing of comical carol sheets
And hilarious, hypocritical greeting cards

Turkeys, with other fowls
And innocent animals
Butchered, in millions of tons
Slaughtered mercilessly
For celebration of
The creator’s love
For pretentious Christmas fellowships
And for the feeding of hellish greed

Oh did you hear that
Wailing and weeping,
This time, not in ancient Rama
But right in our midst
Not Rachel,
No, not Rachel, for her children
But, helpless fellow creatures
Refusing, all consolation
That’s Christmas for Christians-
Deaf, dumb, and blind
