the photograph

words and images reign
my thoughts
dictating disorder out
to establish the couch
for more sun shine
deep within my heart

during this regime
on the roadsides
i see much rain
puddles, my poems
reflecting for eyes, ready
to see the neighbourhood

walking to beat the gloom

i wondered with some sense
of depression
whether the operator
of the world’s weather

and seasons
yesterday
pressed the wrong button
leading to my falling

with a jerk and a shudder
straight into the ‘green-less’
and ‘grain-less’
fall

skipping the good part
of spring
that makes water fall
from the big, or a small

mountain
and the entire summer
making the canyon
busy with buffaloes

and prairie dogs
making me to walk
to beat the gloom
otherwise would push me

to flog my mind
until it bled
and
was forever dead

night dreams

my mind is omnipresent god

neither sleeping, nor slumbering

not even in the coldest night

painting dreams, thinking thought

and constructing poems

forever with vivid images

simple symbols and newer metaphors

rooted in my cultural existence

two together

desperately i try to create calm

deep within the cave of my heart

while secretly surfing on the storm

whistling outside, snarling at my want

to beat all swirling inside my soul

treacherously betraying my spirit

climbing, combing a higher mountain

clinging to the goal, the gold crown

thus i carry within a single self

two corpses:

a stillborn child

and my own

tragedy

that’s me: a frail curtain

everyone knows of that grin;

now compassion becomes a longer mile

tickling and forcing a smile

actually crying not from joy!

tragedy is a living toy

in midst of tragedy’s strife

visiting the grass beneath grief

emptying now the hall of ploy

i'm Jonah

i’m Jonah singing un-rhythmic song

instead of researching and writing

paper for presentation to correct wrong

in social milieu; much evil promoting

i go to Tarshish avoiding Nineveh

dodging task entrusted to perform;

i sleep much at bottom of the boat

undisturbed by the turbulence out

i grumble when comforts i earned not

from me removed swiftly, for another

to enjoy while i’m in discomfort

wailing with songs in my chosen corner

that depth

she carried a deeper sea

none, not even she

has ever, in full, explored that depth

further, thickly she has veiled

the surface, her face covered

that none may see her cry, or smile

she like Maryam was willing

to bear the Word of God, killing

not what needs to be revealed

fearing not the heretical thoughts

bred by men of power and wallets

living what she heard in that depth

unpredictable being that becoming

your unpredictability like the wind blowing
where it chooses to blow that i hear, clearly,
the sound on my body but not, plainly, knowing
where it comes, or whither her path would be

increases in my mind the sense of mystery
to surround you and your ways of dealing
in my world making my thought on eternity -
your unchangeableness - i received, a heresy

leaving me to wonder, and wander after you
like Moses journeying alone in Sinai wilderness
for so long before he gets a glimpse
of your being, energy in the burning bush

i, now, drive through the Albertan bush
seeking like Jonah, Jeremiah and Jesus
a restless rest that comes from resting in an endless
ever-expanding being, your unceasing becoming!
